President roots for commercial agriculture

President Yoweri Museveni has singled out the practising of subsistence agriculture by the majority of Ugandans as a major factor that has made it difficult for the country to reap enough from its cherished agricultural potential. The President was opening the 25th Annual Source of the Nile National Agricultural Show in Jinja Municipality. President launches national campaign against ticks'

President Yoweri Museveni has attributed the rampant loss of livestock in the country to the failure by veterinary officials to sensitize farmers on proper drug use against ticks. He also said that lack of zoning regions for easy management, farmers’ laziness and government laxity over control of animals’ drugs distribution channels to the farmers and violations of livestock rights are the other causes of the loss of livestock.

Uganda will absorb and co-exist with refugees - Museveni

President Yoweri Museveni has appealed to the international community to reward communities that host refugees in terms of infrastructural development. He said that in Uganda the reward would focus on the construction of two main roads – Moyo – Yumbe – Koboko in the Bidibidi Refugee Camp in West Nile Sub-Region and  Kabingo – Rugaaga – Rakai along the famous Nakivale Refugee Camp in South Western Uganda.
