President Yoweri Museveni has asked the people of Wakiso district in particular and Ugandans in general to organize themselves in groups if they are to benefit from the funds set aside by the National Resistance Movement government to fund the household poverty eradication project under the Prosperity for All (PFA) programme. The President was handing over the pledges he made during the recently concluded mobilization and popularization tour of the district to educate wananchi on fighting against household poverty through Prosperity for All programme. President Museveni told the 6 groups in a meeting at State House, Entebbe that the money was part of the government’s initiative to boost small scale farmers so that they are able to enhance agricultural investment and production for both individual and national food security.
Mr. Museveni advised the groups to use the money profitably so that those who have not started similar projects may copy from them. He informed them that the problem is not money but how to use that financial resource to eradicate household poverty.
“Go and use the money profitably. The problem is not the money but how to use it. Those who want to work will be supported”, he promised.
The President also strongly called on leaders to sensitize the people on numerous government development programmes such as the PFA project.
“The problem is the leaders who do not sensitise the people. Organise the people because the money is there”, he affirmed.
Wakiso district LC5 Chairman, Engineer Ian Kyeyune, commended the President and the National resistance Movement government’s deliberate policy aimed at lifting up farmers at the grass roots’ level in a bid to assist wananchi in Uganda to embrace commercial agriculture.
Woman MP for Wakiso district, Mrs. Rose Sseninde, saluted the President for boosting local farmers in the district. She pledged to follow up on all government funds and programmes in order to ensure that wananchi are able to benefit from government development programmes.
