Mrs. Janet Kataha Museveni First lady and wife of the President is the Founder and current Patron of UWESO. 

She together with a handful of other women while in exile in Sweden came together to mobilize assistance for the many children orphaned and made destitute by the war in 1985. 
Her concern and care for these parentless children has earned her the name Maama in all corners of the country.
