The First Lady and Minister for Karamoja Affairs Hon. Janet Museveni has called on the Kiryandongo District leaders to cooperate with Restoration Gateway Uganda, Africa in their efforts to help children and the local people towards their development.

The First Lady made the call yesterday in Bedmot, Kiryandongo District during the dedication of Oaks of Righteousness School/Nursery and homes for children, a project started by the Restoration Gateway Uganda/Africa. The dedication was held under the theme "To God be the Glory Great Things He has done!"

She urged leaders to sensitize the people into opening up the land through the facilitation of tractors, adding that NAADS officials must sensitize and assist the people in promotion modern agricultural projects.

“Leaders need to help our people and instead of surviving on the periphery of the economy support them to become part of the money economy,” she said.

The First Lady paid special tribute to the Executive Director of Restoration Gateway Uganda/Africa Dr. Tim MacCall for helping the people. She was pleased to note that the children were well fed, healthy and clean, adding that what the MacCall team is doing in the area was the planting of a good seed among the children.

She urged the children in the project not to take the opportunity for granted. She said that her heart was pleased to see what they have done for the community.

In reference to the Karamoja sub region, Mrs. Museveni noted that the NRM Government is giving the people a new hope and confidence, adding that it is not proper for the people of the region to depend on food aid any longer. She was pleased to note that the people in Karamoja are now cultivating their food and increasingly becoming self reliant.

The Kibanda County MP Sam Otada hailed the First Lady for sacrificing to serve as the Minister for Karamoja Affairs and prayed to God to bless her. He commended Dr. Tim  MacCall for supporting the children of Uganda, adding that he is also a big agent of promoting tourism in Uganda. He thanked him for promoting education in the country.

The Woman MP for Kiryandongo District Helen Kahunde thanked the First Lady for sparing time from her busy schedule to join the community during this important celebration.

She thanked the Executive Director of Restoration Gateway for providing a home for orphans and spreading the word of God. She reported that there are many women and children living with HIV/AIDS in the district and appealed to the First Lady to assist them in the screening of women for the cancer disease.

The Executive Director of Restoration Gateway Uganda/ Africa Dr. Tim MacCall commended Hon. Janet Museveni for supporting the project and thanked her for her blessings and prayers. He thanked all the Government Officers who have supported the project.

The LC 5 Chairman Kiryandongo District Ben Moro called on the people to support the project for community development.
