President leaves for London Summit on Family Planning

President Yoweri Museveni has left for the United Kingdom to attend an international Summit on Family Planning taking place tomorrow 11th July 2012 in London, the British Capital.

The President, who is accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Janet Museveni, was seen off at Entebbe International Airport this morning by the Head of Public Service, Mr. John Mitala, the Commander of Air Force, Lt. Gene. Jim Owoyesigire, Police Commandant of Kampala Metropolitan Area, Assistant Inspector General of Police Andrew Kaweesi and the Commissioner General of Prisons, Dr. Johnson Byabashaija.

The Summit which is running under the theme “Global Motherhood: Pushing for Family Planning To Save Lives”, is being jointly hosted by the United Kingdom Government and the US-based Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

According to the organizers, the aim of the Summit is to launch a global movement to provide an additional 120 million women in the world’s poorest countries access to lifesaving family planning information, services and supplies by 2020.
