President Yoweri Museveni has today met and held discussions with the Chief of Intelligence of the government of Algeria Major Driss-Ait Hamadouche.
The two leaders discussed matters of mutual interest and pledged to strengthen the relationship between the two countries especially in the areas of security, education, oil production and agriculture.
Major Hamadouche was accompanied by the Algerian Ambassador to Uganda, Abderrahmane Benmokhtar. The meeting was attended by Ugandas’ Director General of External Security Robert Masolo.
Uganda and Algeria cooperate in various fields including in security and education. Algeria gives Uganda 50 scholarships to Ugandan students to study in Algeria and wants to cooperate in Uganda in the fields of oil and gas production. Algeria is advanced in oil production and is one of the largest exporters of gas to Europe.
