President praises Shafik Mwanje for being enterprising though blind

PPU photo by Kalibbala Kato Jacob President Yoweri Museveni has praised Mr. Shafik Mwanje for beating all the odds of not being without eye sight yet he has spearheaded development, persevered in hardships and helped other needy people in his area of Bukomansimbi district.

Mr. Mwanje Shafik is the Bukomansimbi district LC5 Councilor for people with disabilities. He wedded Aisha Nanyonga yesterday. The couple held their wedding reception at Kyanja play ground in Kitanda Sub-County in Bukomansimbi district.

President Museveni who graced the couple’s wedding reception, congratulated them for formalizing their marriage. He said that he could not miss the ceremony because of the unique qualities of the groom, Mwanje Shafik who, despite being blind, has spearheaded development as well as helping the needy people by establishing a vocational training institute in the area. He noted that this was challenge to the able-bodied people.

Mr. Museveni further commended Mr. Mwanje for pointing out corruption cases in Bukomansimbi district when government officials like the RDCs, MPs and others are merely looking on and seem oblivious to the vice. He also lauded the bride for willingly accepting the hand of Shafik Mwanje in marriage. He donated 5 million shillings to the newlywed couple.

The groom, Shafik Mwanje, thanked President Museveni for gracing his wedding ceremony and described the President’s presence as a historic moment that the people of Bukomansimbi would never forget.
