President Yoweri Museveni has revived the Presidential Economic Council (PEC) during its meeting today at State House, Entebbe that was also attended by Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi and Cabinet Ministers.
The President announced the revival of PEC during the 2012/2013 financial budget presentation to the country on 14th June 2012 which is supposed to meet every 2 months under his Chairmanship or that of Vice-President if the President is not present.
President Museveni the nation during his national budget speech that the reactivation of PEC was very crucial because of the importance of investors to the national economy. PEC is charged with the task of dealing with strategic national economic policy development.
PEC membership includes government, other players from the private sector as well as the Uganda Manufacturers’ Association (UMA) and Private Sector Foundation Chairpersons.
