President receives US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

No handshake because of Ebola out brake Hillary Clinton being wellcomed in style by President Museveni at State House Entebbe on 3-8-2012 President Yoweri Museveni has this afternoon met and held talks with the visiting American Secretary of State, Mrs. Hillary Clinton, who is currently on an Africa tour that started in West Africa. The meeting took place at State House, Entebbe.

President Museveni and his guest discussed a wide range of issues including bilateral and regional matters with particular focus on Uganda’s development and areas in the region that are experiencing instability.

President Museveni briefed Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on issues pertaining to Uganda’s economic development citing the building of infrastructure exemplified by the completion of Bujagali hydro-power
 station and other power generating projects that are ongoing as well as roads, among other activities. The President said that that there are still other remaining development challenges, such as attracting investors and marketing Uganda’s potential abroad.
 

State House Uganda - NewsClinton and Museveni after meeting at State House On her part, Mrs. Hillary Clinton commended President Museveni for the progress that Uganda has so far attained in the socio-economic arena and gave assurances of the readiness of the Government of the United States of America to assist Uganda in her efforts to cause transformation of her society.

On regional affairs, Mrs. Clinton also praised Uganda for the immense contribution and the role the country is playing in trying to help to address regional challenges, especially in Somalia. She asked the President to continue looking for lasting solutions to regional issues such as the LRA problem, the challenges that have arisen in neighbouring DRC and those facing South Sudan.
