President receives Italian Deputy Foreign Minister

President Yoweri Museveni has held a meeting with the visiting Italian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Staffen De Mistura, who called on him at State House, Entebbe this afternoon.

The President and the Minister discussed issues pertaining to the relations between Uganda and Italy and the possibilities of further strengthening these ties.

Mr. Museveni, through the Minister, extended an invitation to investors from Italy, especially in the agro-processing sector, to take Uganda as one of their best investment destinations on the African continent.

On his part, Minister Mistura commended the President for his commendable effort and dedication that has seen Uganda become a stable country and also for regional initiative that entailed spearheading the restoration of peace and stability in Somalia and South Sudan.

Minister Mistura said his visit to Uganda is a sign of the warm relations and solidarity that happily exist between Uganda and Italy.

The meeting was attended by the Italian Ambassador to Uganda Mr. Stefano Antonio Dejak and Uganda’s new envoy to Italy, Ms. Grace Akello.
