The Church was used as a sick bay for treating injured freedom fighters between July and September,1985. Dr. Ronald Bata (rip) treated fighters who were injured at the battlefield. The hills around also served as bases for various companies(fighters). One of the them, at the left hand-side of the church, was called the "fridge".
