President Yoweri Museveni has commended the leaders of the Universal Apostles Fellowship Church of Righteousness (UAFCR) for preaching hard work and urged them to sensitize their folk against the HIV/AIDS scourge. The President was on tuesday speaking during the jubilee celebrations for the locally founded Church under the leadership of Prophet Micros Mafabi in Kirama, Kaliro District.
The President who initially commissioned a new police posted donated to the community by the Church and later toured the school facility under the Church and a foundation stone said the foundation of the Church was summarized by Jesus Christ when He taught the Disciples about God's commandments.
"The most important ones are: Love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as you love yourself. When we came into government, they said we should not allow any other religions but I said if they are not against us they are with us," he said, adding that he was pleased to attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations in spite of his busy schedule which included issues surrounding the war in South Sudan.
President Museveni commended the Church leaders for not only preaching the word of God but also for being hard working. He observed that from their testimony they were both multiplying the population and working hard, an issue which is in line with the teachings of the Bible.
He commended the followers for being NRM supporters and urged them to embrace the fight against poverty by engaging in modern agro production.
He reminded them that in the 1996 NRM manifesto, government recommended the utilization of at least four acres of land per household for cultivation of clonal coffee, fruits such as mangoes, oranges and pineapples, banana cultivation to ensure food security and elephant grass for zero grazing milk.
He recommended the farmers to supplement their incomes with poultry for eggs production and for the people accessing wet lands to do fish farming. He said that under this arrangement, the people would be assured of an income of at least Sh 20 million per family per annum.
The President said that while government has developed infrastructure such as the provision of electricity, piped water, roads etc some people are still living in poverty and urged them to exploit the development to ensure good household incomes.
He revealed that he has started distributing seedlings in Mayuge District through the army officers. He pledged to support the various development groups in their economic enhancement efforts.
He later donated Sh 20 million to the Church leader, Prophet Mafabi as part of his contribution towards the Golden Jubilee celebrations.
The President warned the youth against HIV/AIDS, noting that the major transmission route was promiscuity. He stressed that there was no need for the youth to look for pleasure through irresponsible behavior and reminded them that there was time for everything. He strongly urged them to study, get employment and thereafter have a family. He congratulated the Christians of the Universal Church for celebrating the 50 years anniversary.The leader of the Universal Apostles Church of Righteousness Prophet Micros Mafabi welcomed the President to Kirama, Kaliro District which he described as the foundation of the Church.
