President Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday April 23, sent out his first tweet ever since joining the social media platform, Twitter.
Using his Twitter handle @KagutaMuseveni, the President saluted Kyambogo University science students for making a vehicle that uses ethanol instead of petroleum.
“I send my first tweet to salute Ugandan science students; they modified this vehicle's engine to run on pure ethanol,” read the tweet which saw the President’s account immediately verified by Twitter.
In his second tweet, the President thanked the public “for welcoming me to Twitter. I will interact with you, and take questions, every two weeks”.
“Attending the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the union between Tanganyika and Zanzibar, today, Dar-es-salaam,” was his third tweet on a function where Tanzania's President Jakaya Kikwete glowingly referred to him as a brother, one of Tanzania and senior leader in the region.
His fourth tweet: “I salute Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Kambarage for his contribution to the formation of the United Republic of Tanzania,” also attracted hundreds of reweets.
Tanzanians commenting on the President's Facebook page, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, welcomed him to Tanzania and wished he had addressed them even if for two minutes.
His post on Tanzania visit attracted 1,386 likes and hundreds of comments which are still pouring onto the page.
Meanwhile, his current following on Facebook is at 74,032 followers
If @KagutaMuseveni's handle can do 2353 retweets, 973favs & 26k followers in under 4 days, his might be the most discussed handle in #Uganda, according to analysts.
