President Museveni meets Escort Group of Companies

President Yoweri Museveni has today received a delegation of Escort Group of Companies which is based in Ghana.

The delegation that called on the President at State House, Entebbe this morning was led by a Ghanaian Member of Parliament, Hon. Emmanuel Nii Ashe Moore.

The organization is dedicated to a mission of enabling the youth in the Ghanaian society create jobs through skills and capital acquisition.

They are in Uganda on a visit that is aimed at sharing their experience with the Ugandan youth.  

President Museveni warmly welcomed members of the delegation to Uganda and pledged to assist them acquire land to facilitate them towards establishing an industry targeting the imparting of skills to the youth in Uganda.

He commended the idea of the companies’ contributing a premium to an insurance company to secure credit from commercial banks.

He said that Government must have capacity to transform the economy adding that the NRM Government has concentrated on building the infrastructure such as roads and electricity supply, among others.

He noted that the move would reduce the cost of doing business and create employment opportunities in the country.

Mr. Museveni said the basics entail provision of cheap electricity, low cost of transport and finance.

He observed that the Ghana-based Group of Companies could put in place a contributing fund to buy tools.

He welcomed the innovation of creating skills, job opportunities and working capital.

Hon. Emmanuel Nii Moore, the leader of the delegation, revealed that the youth in his country were provided with new tools and training to help them create employment opportunities adding that the women were also trained in food processing.

Mr. Moore also reported that his organization trained graduates in running business.

He attributed their success to the cooperation forged with the National Youth Employment Programme in Ghana.
