Ivan Byekwaso, popularly known as Mr. Uganda, has won the Silver Medal at the World Natural Body Building and Fitness Championships in the City of Nitra, Slovakia Republic in an event held from 27th June to 28th June 2014.
According to a press release issued by his manager Kamal Sabuni, the President and founder of the International Natural Body Building Association (INBA WORLD), Denny Kakos, hailed the President of Uganda, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for sending to the INBA world championships an athlete who showcased the best entertainment and talent in the competition.
“INBA looks forward to working with Uganda to host the World Championships as a result of what they have witnessed,” read the statement.
”Ivan has been a great Ambassador for Uganda and was quick to re-assure us of the beauty of the Pearl of Africa. Even though he lost by just one point, he has been the most loved athlete here and is a great boost for the Olympiad at which we expect him to compete. Uganda can win the Olympiad a step further from this Silver Medal,” Kakos was quoted as saying.
The President of INBA WORLD has already given Byekwaso the invitation to compete in the Natural Body Building Olympiad in November 2014 in the USA.
“We are optimistic that he will prepare well. Now that he is the Uganda Body Building Cranes’ he can be accorded a lot more support to ensure his lengthy preparations towards the events and eventual travel without incident,” said Kamal.
Kamal further hailed President Museveni for providing financial support to Byekwaso just 24 hours after being contacted.
Byekwaso returns to Uganda aboard Turkish Airlines 3am Thursday the 3rd of July.
The athlete is grateful for President Museveni's timely support towards his travel expenses.
