President Yoweri Museveni has advised the people of Masaka district to embrace modern commercial farming that would simplify other tasks like that of fund raising.
The President was yesterday the guest of honor at celebrations marking the Golden Jubilee of Kako Secondary School in Masaka district.
The colorful celebrations also coincided with a fund raising drive to raise capital for the rehabilitation of the ageing facilities of the school.
President Museveni auctioned a bull at Shs 20m and donated Shs 60m.
The Presidents portrait fetched Shs 20m that was mainly contributed by Hon. Mayanja Mbabali and Mr. Mutabazi Executive Director UCC.
President Museveni pledged governments’ contribution to the refurbishment of the 50 year old school.
The Bishop of West Buganda Diocese the Rt. Rev. Godfrey Makumbi thanked President Museveni for all the good things the NRM government for the country especially peace.
President Museveni on arrival performed various functions that included among others the commissioning of a new block at Kitovu Secondary school that houses both the hostel and class rooms.
The President also commissioned water projects under National Water and Sewage Corporation at Nile Vocational Institute and Kako Junior School that will serve Kako area with clean water.
President Museveni said the project was government's commitment to provide people of the area with safe clean water and pledged to work on the road from Nyendo to Bukakata.
High profile alumni of the school, that included Gen Salim Saleh attended the ceremony. Also present included cabinet Ministers, MPs, Religious and Masaka District leaders.
