President receives President Kikwete’s Special Envoy and former Tanzanian leader Benjamin Mkapa

President Yoweri Museveni has received the Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Bernard Membe and Special Envoy of President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete of Tanzania.

During the meeting that took place this morning at State House, Entebbe, Mr. Membe handed over to Mr. Museveni as special from President Kikwete.

Present at the meeting were State Minister for International Affairs, Mr. Okello Oryem and the Chairman of the Tanzania Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Mr. Abdurahman Kinana.

Also today, President Yoweri Museveni received former Tanzanian President, Mr. Benjamin Mkapa who paid him a courtesy call this morning at State House, Entebbe.

Mr. Mkapa is in Uganda to officiate at the 4th Graduation Ceremony of Cavendish University that is slated to take place on Saturday 06th December 2014 at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala.

Mr. Mkapa will represent former Zambian President, Mr. Kenneth Kaunda who is the Chancellor of Cavendish University in Uganda.

Cavendish University in Uganda (CUU) is a private institution that started operations in the country in 2008. CUU is affiliated to Cavendish University, London (UK) along with Cavendish University, Tanzania and Cavendish University, Zambia.

CUU held its first graduation ceremony in November 2011. During its second graduation ceremony, it churned out 360 students graduated of whom 166 were female and 137 were non Ugandans.

The Government of Uganda has donated 15 acres of land in Entebbe to the CUU where the university is already building a larger permanent main campus.
