President Yoweri Museveni has cautioned Ugandans against risking their lives and the lives of their loved ones through over speeding during this festive season.
“Dear Ugandans, I greet you all. On 31st December I will deliver my New Years address with more details. I however wish you a Merry Christmas. Please do so carefully. For those travelling up country, don’t over speed. Personally I never go beyond 100km per hour on a good tarmac road and I don’t go beyond 80km per hour on a murram road, don’t over speed. Don’t risk your lives and the lives of your loved ones this festive season,” he said in a short and crisp message to Ugandans yesterday.
The Presidents message comes at a time when Police intensifies its deployment of traffic personnel on the roads and warn against drink-driving and over speeding. Over One Thousand Ninety Three traffic officers and non-uniformed police have been deployed at different spots along highways and other roads in the country to check on the increasing accidents as the festive season sets in.
