President Yoweri Museveni has condemned in the strongest terms the recent mysterious murders of Muslim clerics in the country. He has, therefore, directed the Inspector General of Police to ensure that all perpetrators of those heinous crimes are brought to book.
The President was yesterday delivering his New Year message to the Nation at his country home at Rwakitura in Kiruhuura district. Mr. Museveni cited the murder of Sheikh Abdul Kadir Muwoya, Sheikh Bahiga Mustafa, Abdu Ssentamu, Abbas Abubakar and Madango Abubakar.
The President prayed to the Almighty God to rest the souls of the late clerics in eternal peace and extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and to the entire nation.
President Museveni, however, blamed the judiciary for granting some of the criminals bail, noting that the act was endangering the safety of Ugandans. He assured the nation that government is doing all it takes to make sure that systems are put in place to either prevent such crimes or effect immediate arrest of the criminals. He suggested the introduction of CCTV cameras in Uganda’s urban areas as a measure to combat criminal activities.
The President also congratulated most families in the country for waking up by engaging in small scale commercial farming and encouraged those who have not joined the struggle to take advantage of the guidance by the Army Officers in their areas and implement the 4 acre plan.
Mr. Museveni congratulated all Ugandans upon having spent a merry Christmas and wished the population a prosperous happy New Year 2015.
